COLONIAL MUTUAL LIFE.
We received a Press Association message of over twelve hundred words last night, explaining the position of the Colonial Mutual Life Association in the light of recent disturbing cables which have been published from Australia. We do not know why the Press Association should have thrust upon us so, lengthy an explanation, which really assumes the form of an advertisement. But we hasten to say that the resident secretary of the Colonial Mutual Life docs not'consider things are as..bad as they are painted. In fact, he says "there was never in the history of the Society a time when criticism in regard to its financial position, v was less warr ranted.'' We accept tho ■■ veswlofl t .secretary ,in .the meantime, and feel sure that everybodyparticularly the policy-holders-v. i., ho gratified.
