STATEMENT BY FIRM NEGOTIATING THE LOAN. ("Received September 27, 10 a.m.) LONDON, September 26. Messrs "Birch and Crisp, the firm negotiating the loan for China, state that they obtained the support of Dr Morrison, Adviser to the President of China, before launching the loan. City men believe it- would help to restore British prestige in tho Far Fast were the Foreign Office to verbally inform the firm named that it was unable' to prevent tho issue of the loan, and would not recognise tho action of the Six-Powers' Syndicate.
Financial papers favour China's action. Tho Stock Exchange, at the outset, opposed it till it was found that tho security to be given was identical to that offered to the Six-Powers' Syndicate.
Tho Daily 'News a i!rl Daily Chronicle denounce tlio action of tho Powers. Tho former likens it to that of a blooksucking money-lender, and is sorry that Britain is taking a lead in the unedifying business.
