CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
The annual report of the Masterton Chamber (if Commerce, which is published in this issue, shows that during the past year a good deal of effective' work has been done in the interests of the town and district. The straightening out of the railway timetable was in'itself an accomplishment for which the Chamber deserves the thanks of the community. The movement for extending tho railway service to the back-blocks was also actively prosecuted, and there is reason to hope that the seed sown will yield an abundant harvest. The report speaks in optimistic terms concerning, the district, and states that, despite the stringency ia the money market, there lias been ample money available for sound investments, and there is evidence that the town and district are thoroughly sound and prosperous. Tlie Chamber has an arduous year in front of it, and one could fain hope that its efforts will receive that active encouragement from the business community which its public-spiritedness deserves.
