THE FEDERATION OF LABOUR.
The Federation of Labour evidently does not know when it is beaten. Mr R. Semple, the particularly bright star in this remarkable organisation, h.;s the astounding assurance to assert that- the people are with the Federation. Who arc the people? Are they the unhappy dupes of the waterside and in the general labouring class who hWe entrusted their destinies with a body of ill-advised revolutionaries ? We cannot think that even these will surrender their liberties »t the cull of the red-flaggers. But even should they do so, there is Satisfaction in the knowledge that the .jiji-eat bulk of .vane workers are op,posed to the strikers. If this man Semple, and the few agitators who aVe, with him, think the whole machinery of trade is to be paralysed at the will' of a revolutionary combine, they never mads a greater mistake in their lives. \ 'The will of the people; forsooth!
