LADIES HOCKEY TOURNAMENT

( Jiy Telegraph,—Press Association.) r CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. The New Zealand Ladies' Hockey Tournament was continued this afternoon at Sydenham Park, in fine weather. There was again a largo attendance of the public. The matches played during the afternoon resulted as follows: 1 A Section. —Poverty Bay 1 v. Otago 0; Wairarapa 2 v. Canterbury B 0; Nelson Bv. Taranaki 1; Manawatu a bye. B. Section. —Canterbury A 3 v. Wellington 0; Hawke's Bay 5 v. West Coast 0; Auckland; 4 v. Biiller 0; Wanganui a' bye. In the Wairarapa versus Canterbury B. match the winners were called upon to work hard for their win. Canterbury really had n6 forward line, their throe 'best forwards being. injured -iff■ the earlier games. Wairarapa was the much faster team, and their passing and tackling were excellent. Where they were weak was in shooting, and they really should have scored more goals than they did. The -following are tho positions of the various teams for the championshin : A Section.—Wairarapa 10 points; Poverty Bay S; Canterbury B 5; Nelson 5; Otago 4; Manawatu 3; Taranaki 1.
