A POLITICAL "SLIDE."
The Evening Popt announces that the Hon. A. M. Myers has seceded from the Opposition, and hints at other secessions in the course of a day or two. According to the Post, the defeat of the Opposition is "changing to rout." "If the present 'slide' in the Opposition quarter continues," says our contemporary, "it may be suggested that Mr Massey should* lend tho other side a. man or two, in accordance with his own precept that a sturdy' Opposition is essential for sound ervernment." If the Post could only realise tho true position, it would discover -that the rock upon -which th© Opposition has split , is th& leasehold tenurewhich it has -itself so consistently advocated.
