MASTERTON TELEPHONE CERVICE.

From a report presented to the House of Representatives yesterday, it will be seen that the responsible officers of the Post and Telegraph Department I recommend that the automatic systor 1 of telephony be installed in Mastorton. It was recently recommended that common battery outfits bo obtained for this township. This recommendation, however, has been withdrawal in favour of the automatic f.nvitch-bo.u-d. It is to be hoped that the Postmas-ter-General will give favourable consideration to the proposal contained in the report, which,.if adopted, would make tho Masterton service one of t(i;> most up-to-date in the Dominion. Tho Chamber of Commerce should at once place itself in communication with the Postmaster-General, and urge tho adoption of the automatic system in preference to the common battery.
