Mr M. F. Bourke, one of tluVdirectors, of tho Mangaone Oilfields, Ltd., and an erstwhile resident of this dis- ' trict, is at present in Eketahuna in I company with the boring experts »r- ---'"'"'■ ranging' mutters for the boring operations which are to bo commenced i«t " H-ongomai. Chatting with an Express reporter Mr Bourke stated that operations had been retarded by the Homo strike's, bat it was expected to commence work in a month's time. "Of course," ' .said Mr Bourke, "the delay could not "but occasion sceptical remarks, but in a very short time the people of the district will find wo mean business aid "if, as our experts anticipate, oil is struck, your little town will not know itself in a couple of years. Even if the operations are not successful - the district is in for the best advertisement it ever had. On boring com~i mencing you will have streams of motor cars coming into the town containing those interested in the success .or failure not only of the fields, but of the plant, and already all the leading newspapers have intimated .they intend writing up the fields." "Although," continued Mr Bourke, "the Weber people have got over a month's start'on us we expect to have our bore completed first."
