A LICENSING QUESTION.
Tlio Bill introduced by Mr W. H. D. Bell, providing relief for those publicans whose hotels have been closed through an, alteration in. the electoral boundaries, has not received the support from Parliament that it deserves. The measure, though postponed for a week, has been practically killed. We cannot understand why, in a caso where a manifest injustice is being done, the Government itself has not seen fit to supply the remedy. Possibly, however. Mr Massey thought that if he touched.the lieensin.gquestion at all he would he opening up a wide discussion, which would block the passage of more pressing legislation. Be that as it may, it is astonishing to find that a majority of tho House is disposed to sanction the perpetration of an act which is at once a violation, of the principles of equity and British justice.
