VALEDICTORY

MR D, LOADER. A pleasant function took place in the Foresters' Hall, Mastertou, last evening, when the staff of the Mas-tei-ton GLP.O. assembled to farewell Mr D. Loader, who has been connected with the institution for a number of years, and who has been transferred to Napier.; master; "presided, and there were present about thirty members of . the G.P.O. staff and friends. The chairman in presenting Mr Loader with a handsome Kaiapoi travelling rug referred to his long connection with theoffice and spoke in glowing terms of the conscientious and painstaking manner in which' he always carried out his' duties. Mr Loader's genial companionship would be much missed' by air who had come into contact with him as a friend and as a fellow employee. Messrs Boagey, Roche, and Pragnell also spoke in eulogistic terms of Mr Loader, stating that he would be speciall missed in hockey circles,, being a prominent exponent of tho game. All wished Mr Loader thehighest success in Napier. Mr Loader feelingly responded. During the evening gongs and recitations wero contributed by several of those present, and the singing of "Auld Lang Syne"' terminated , a very pleasant gathering.
