MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL
■ ORDINARY MEETING. The ordinary meeting; of the Masterton BorOii'di Council was held in the Council .Chamber? last evening,'' there being prosenc—Hir>-Worship tiro Mavor (Mr J. M. Coralline) and Crs F. W. Temple, E. Flanagan, W. Candy, 0. Pragnoll, C. J.Ewington, D. Prentice and A. Donald. It was decided to inform the Masterton Hospital authorities in connection with gas supplied to the hospital that, the ■! reduction of the cost as decided upon at Last meeting was contingent upon the \»\% being used' for a dual purpose, otherwise tlie price charged would be the same as charged in Masterton for lighting purposes. . A letter was received from the Fahiatua District Progressive Association drawing the attention of the Council to a' conference to be held" in Pahiatua on September 9th to discuss the question feeder railways* The Mayor stated that as Masterton had a railway scheme of its own which clashed with that, of Pahiatua, ho could not see how the Council could support the application. Cr Ewington said that at a previous conference Pahiatua was not represented. At that conference it was decided to support the MastertonWaipukurau scheme, and he thought it would defeat the object of Masterton if,they supported the Pahiiatuai movement.
It was decided to inform the Pahiatua Progressive Association that tlm Masterton Borough Council is not at present in a position to support themovement.
