Tho Hon J. A. Millar has returned to Wellington from Rotorua, much improved in health.

Mr George Taiaroa, a brother-in-law of Mrs Tai te Tau, of Masterton, was drowned while returning to his homo at tho Truaron Heads last Friday in a. motor launch. Hori Ngtai, a well known chief of the Ngaiterangi tribe, aged about' died at Whaeroa, Bay of Plenty, on Saturday morning. Great preparations are being made for the tangi. A Press Association telegram states that Mr Easton has been elected chairman of the Nelson Education Board. Yesterday's' arrivals at" the Club Hotel, Masterton, include Mr :ir,tl Mrs Bunny (Hinakura), Mr and Mrs Nov ins (Annedale), Messrs Graham and Perkins (Christchurch), Captain Hamilton, Messrs Johnston, .Bock, Pumfrez,' Ash worth, Conder, Parker, and Gow (Wellington). Mr P. Hamill. of Masterton and Carterton, was the recipient on Saturday evening of a very handsomo present in the shape of a silver and glass epergne, being a presentation from Mr Hamil's employees at Masterton and Carterton in honour of his approaching marriage. Mr J. Williamson, manager of the Masterton branch of the firm, made the presentation, and spoke of the excellent terms which always existed between Mr .Hamil and his employees, and referred eulogistically to the many excellent qualities of Mr Hamil. The presentation, which came as a surprise, was suitably acknowledged by i Mr Hamil.
