able research work was conducted. "We are determined to havo something," said Mr McGregor. "Wo are , not going to let you have any rest or peace until we get something." , The Hon. Mr Massey stated that he Mas glad to meet such a represen- I tative deputation, and to know that i the proposal' to establish. Agricultural I Colleges met with such approval. When the prosperity of the country depended almost entirely on agriculture, it was necessary that they should have facilities for scientific instruction. The proposal to establish Colleges would require tho consent of Parliament, but he had no anxiety on this bead. The question of ways and means had then to be considered. And finally they had to face the question of a site. A strong claim had been put in by Palmerston North, and there were other districts which felt that they had claims. The Wairarapa would receive full consideration. He promised to visit tho district and enquire for himself.
Mr "Buchanan stated that pome years ago he had offered a site for an experimental farm in the Wairarapa, but this had been refused. That offer may not yet he a dead letter. He believed other settlers beside himself wore willing to assist. Ho asked whether, supposing an offer of monetary assistance were made, this would influence the- Minister in his decision. Hon Mr Masscy: If any offer of monetary assistance were to come along it would be considered. T was going to say favourably. Ido not wish to give secrets away, but I may state that T have already been approached from another district and , asked if an offer of £20,000 would m- \ fluence me. | The deputation then thanked Mr MnfifiPY and retired.
