PEARSON CHALLENGE SHIELD,

Tho second, challenge match for the above shield was played at Lansdov.no yesterday, when Post and Telegraph (holders) were defeated by Excelsior (challengers) by two goals to-one. On paper the Excelsior team looked to be very weak, owing to tho absence or Scrirngeour and A. Williams. | Their places were taken bv two juniors. The game was keenly contested, and tho final result waa in doubt right up to tho finish. Tho first spell war, slightly in favour of Excelsior, although at time P. and T. wero v?ry dangerous. A Pragnell and J. Rue scored both, the goals for tho winners in this spoil. Honours were very e T on when tho team.'; changed, round, and the P. and j\ forwards were seen to advantage in several lino rushes, i'ro.n onn of which. D. Loader scored their only goal. Of the winners' forwards Prgnel! and. Iln-j did good work, and ef Xho back.-] Williams, Ban 1 Nicol and LiUvrehce. The P. and T. forwards played well at times, but lacked finish,' several goals being missed throng!) overrunning tho ball. Tho yellows' hacks had a dav off. Towards tbo close of the gamo A. Eddio was or- I dered off the field for rough plav, and R, Williamn wont back to full. Air J. Gray capably handled the game.
