WAIRARAPA TRADE.
ConieluiMvfr jftv'idenc* fcas been furnished the Wairarapa Age that Auckland and. Palmen«ton NoHh firms ar»
operating in this district. It is claimed, with what degree of truth we cannot say, that goods can be delivered cheaper in Masterton from Auckland than they can from Wellington. This ig a question which is of vital concern to the mercantile house* of Wellington and Masterton. If the •railway charges between Wellington and Masterton a.ro higher than thoy should be, an effort" should be made to have them reduced. Tho business houses of Wellington and Masterton should not be penalised on account of the Riuiutuk'a incline. We draw attention to the fact concerning the operations of Auckland and Palmer ston North business firms in.the hope that Wellington and Masterton will awaken from th 0 state of somnolence into which the.y havo lapsed.
