FIRES
(Bv Trlm.ra.oh—Frets Association.) GORE, Last Night. A serious lire broke out at 4.30 this - morning. a« a result of which the Post Office, telephone exchange, ami public office was completely destroyed. The fire was confined to these departments. The Stock and Valuation Departments, which occupy part of the same building, "ere saved, but the public clock and mails for town delivery in the morning were destroyed. Telephone communication will be interrupted' for some days. The fire started on the ground floor of the public office. NAPIER. Last Night, A six-roomed dwelling in Owen Street, owned by Mr R. McKay, and occupied by Mr R." Colder, was totally destroyed by fire at an early hour. The inmates escaped in their night attire. The insurances arc £IOO on the buildings and £75 on the contents.
