reduction interest. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. In tho House of Representatives this afternoon, the Hon. 11. H. Rhodes, Postmaster-General, said an impression had been created t-hat it was the intention of the Government to reduce the r.ite of interest paid to Savings Bank depositers. The interest to be paid would not be altered—3i per cent would be paid 011 sums of under £3OO, and 3 per cent from £3OO to £6OO. He had made arrangeinentf.i to renew the i'ost Office loans at 3J per cent.
