LAND VALUES.
.Afc- R. B. Ross, formerly M.P. for Fa hiatal a, but now a member of the Hawke'e B.iy Land Board, has had •something to eay about the 'inflation of land valines?. He thinks that tin. "only way to stop speculation! is to reduce tho commission on the sale 'of land. By that .means you would wip;s out lii.ilf the land agents in New Zealand." Mr Rocs must 'be exceedingly verdant if he thinks that'a reduction in land agernte' com-miissions :would irrtop the speculation in land. It would, in nil probability, have quite ■the reverse effect. If he wants to stop land speculation, lie will have to adept quite a different process than 'that suggested.
