GOVERNMENT ADVERTISING.
Some of the literary apologists for the last two or three Administrations pretend to be allocked at 'the intimation by the Hon.. F. M. <B. Fisher that m future the Advertising Department is not to be utilised for political puirpcfies, and that Government advert-ia?-ments oto ito be distributed impartially. They consider this announcement a reflection r.pcn-Ministers who havecontrolled the government advertising in the .past; So it-is. And so in should be. The Ward Administration selected to administer the State funds on lines of pavtiKanship, aind it L well that the coimrtry .should know it. ]f t'hey had .not done bo, the announcement of Mr Firahei' would have beeu unnecessary. Presumably .some of the; apologists -a.ro disappointed to find that it is unnecessary for tHiem to go cap m hand to ask that they be placed "on the list."
