Mr C.-F. Vallance's Nedra has been the Binta-re' Steeplechase at Trent-ham next week. The winner of the V.R.C. Grand National Hurdles, VVinga.ra.Ta, is owned by 'the well-known ex-New Zealander, Lf/a Robertson, who is beat; known a*'a trotting reins-matt. He has charge of Alendale Trotting Stud Farm at Mentone, and 'since settling in Victoria has paid a few visits to CJhrisitchua-ch with tVotters. He came ■across to Auckland on bis last visafc with Dan Patch, and won the purses put up by the Northern club for performances against t.iim-e. Recently he baa gone in for gallopers, and won several races with the New Zealand hurdler Herri* Monarch, one of the fancied candidates for the race. Compass and Darby -Ptoil are bcbng ■heavily backed in. Wanganui fw the double at Trentham next week.
