Mr E. H. Clark, M.P., Port Chalmers, was a visitor to Carterton yesterday.
His Excellency the Governor, who arrives this morning to be present at! the filial demonstration in connection, with the Masterton Competitions, will; be met. at the station by Dr. P. R, Cook, President of the Society.
Mr J. Xiool, who has been on an rytended visit to the Old Country, returned to Masterton on Wednesday; evening. Mr C. X. Haslam, of ..the Mastertoa High School, who takes up his duties as headmaster of the Island Bay. school on Monday, is to be tendered a presentation in the assembly room this afternoon, by the staff and pupils.
Mrs Balding is at present acting nS, relieving assistant teacher at the Masterton District High School.
The late Dr. Hudson, of Nelson, was a son-in-law of the late Rev. J. C. An* drew, of Tea, Masterton.
Mr J. T. M. Hornshy is understood to have severed his connection with the "Petone Chronicle," of which paper ha. has been editor for some months past.,
Mr G. R. Sykes, M.P., presided at" the evening session of the Masterton competitions in the Town Hall la sit! evening.
An Auckland telegram states that afc' an enthusiastic meeting of the Legion of Frontiersmen last night, the Righti Hon. W. F. Massey was elected hon-< orary Commandant of the Auckland! district.
