The Akitio County Council on Saturday kvst refused to join a deputation from Pahiatua to wait on the Minister of Railways an connection with the Pahiatua-Pongaroa railway scheme. Watson was appointed a delegate to wait on the Masterton Cham>b?r of Commerce, to confer •with them in, collection 'with the Mao-terton-Waipukurau .scheme. Mrs Kayser has acquired Mr Dawtson'.s (residence for a private hospital and .maternity home. Thfe .will supply a long-felt want to the district.
