A CHRISTCHURCH OPINION.
The Lyttelton Times, which has been unswerving in its .fidelity to the Liberal cause for many years, had the '.following in its issue of yesterday concerning .the political crisis:— We do aiot expect to see another appeal to the electors 'before the present Parliament rail's its ordinary course. Liberals and Independents who have given 'Mr Massey his 'turn' will be a 11 xion.:; that he should have an.opportunity to 'ju-jbify -their action, and, holding the balance of power, a,s they do, they can choose their own time in. submitting themselves to the judgment of the constituents. What this judgment will bo will depend, of course, upon the
uso Mr Masscy makes of the opportunity, and lor ourselves wo are quite prepared to wipe the slate clean, and 'hope# perhaps not confidently, but still sincerely, that ho will cover it with a record that will bo to the abiding advantage of the country and the people."
