BACKBLOCKS ENTHUSIASM.
The enthusiasm wihcli is being displayed by the settlers of Pongaroa and® other portions of- the district in the matter of securing raiilway comamuiication, should act as a stimulus 'to .those who are anore favoured aind aa'e yet anxious to see justice done by 'those who have been struggling for years against adverse conditions in the baclcblocks. The Pongaroa. district is unanimous in the dematnd that a railway tscrvice should be established along the East 'Coast, to iserve the whole of the undeveloped country. A deputation will .shortly waif upon the Masterton (Ohamlber of Commerce iu the matter, and it i-y hoped .that this will result in something like concerted action being taken.
