FRESH DEVELOPMENTS

CONSERVATIVE AND PROGRESSIVE WINGS IN CONFLICT.

CHICAGO, June 24.

In view cf the Republican split, extraordinary interest centres in the Democratic Convention at Baltimore, where a similar conflict has broken out between the Conservative and Progressive wings. Mr Woodrow Wilson has joined Mr Bryan in opposing Mr Parker's candidature for the Chairmanship. It is believed that if the Conservatives dominate the Convention, many Progressive democrats will support Mr Roosevelt.

Renter states that Mr Roosevelt's platform will bo thoroughly progressive and will, include women's suffrage, tariff revision, a national commission to control trusts, and the revision and strengthening of monetary laws without centralising cedit.
