LONDON, June 20

The House of Commons, by 288 votes to 199, refused to establish a single-chamber Government in Ireland.

The Opposition supported tlie proposal for a single Chamber, on tho ground that tho proposed Senate would bo a sham safeguard, and if only local government was conceded, a second chamber would not be required.
