NEW ZEALAND POTATOES
AUSTRALIA WILL NOT MODIFY CONDITIONS. Sir Joseph Ward has received, the following letter, dated 10th June, from Mr Andrew Fisher, Prime-Minis-ter of the Commonwealth :—"Adverting to your telegram of 23rd May last on the question of the modification, of the restrictions at present in force Avith regard to the introduction of potatoes from New Zealand into Australia, I have the honour to inform you that the representations made by the Prime Minister of New Zealand and by yourself in connection with this matter have received careful consideration, but it is regretted that it is not deemed advisablerto modify the conditions of the existing proclamation governing the admission of potatoes to the Comonwealth from overseas."
