GALE AT PAHIATUA
CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE DONE

PAHIATUA, Last Night. Yesterday's gale wias the severest felt in Pahiatua for many years". Considerable damage was done, several large plate-glass windows Jn Main, ■Street being blown in,-; and - fences, and trees blown down.- At Mangatainoka, the roof of the _ Dudley Arms Hotel Was lifted bodily .from the building. It was carried across the road, and came in contact' with the telegraph wires about forty yards distant, breaking eight but of ten wires. The portion of the roof carried away comprised twenty-two sheets of ten-foot iron, and a large number of rafters.
