The arrival of ivxr Itoosevelt at Chicago was excellently-timed, popular indignation at the Committee's modus operandi being at its height. The Committees hare allotted Mr T'aft 234 of the contested seats, and Mr Roosevelt .20. Mr Roosevelt, addressing a crowd, said it was a naked fight against theft, but the thieves »\ere not.going to win. "The people will," he said., "refuse to countenance the theft .of .their votes by professional politicians* representing what is the most corrupt in the couni try's political life-" Mr Rooseelt demanded the credentials ojf the Committee to reject the findings of the National Committee. Failing these being forthcoming, lie. would to the Convention. THE LATEST ADVICE. BOTH PARTIES CLAIM NOMINATION. THREAT OF A NEW PARTY. (Received Last Night, 11.50 o'clock.) CHICAGO, June 17. Mr Taft's managers claim 555 votes in the Convention, which would elect Mr Taft at the first ballot. Mr Roosevelt's supporters concede only 535 votes, which would not foe sufficient. It is stated that as Mr .Lafollette cannot be nominated his 'delegation will go to Mr Roosevelt. If Mr Roosevelt fails to be nominated for the Convention, his followers will found a new party. Every doubtful delegate is being feted by both parties, particularly the negroes. Prominent negroes are being brought to Chicago in order to induce the negro delegates to support Mr Roosevelt.,
