The effect of the silly law of which the Ealmerstan paper was held to have committed a technical Ibr'each, may 'be far-reaching. ■No newspaper, : wdll be safe in publishing the details of any offence wliich' may form' the subject of Couirt 'proceedings, lest it be found guilty of contempt or libel. The (position affects this (public- as much as it does the ■newspapers, and for this treason steps should be taken to secure an amend-, raent of the law.
