PAHIATUA LICENSING COMMITTEE.

ANNUAL MEETING. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WOODVILLE, Last .Night. The annual meeting of tho Fahiatua Licensing Bench was held here to-day, all tho members being present. Mr L. G. Eeid, S.M., occupied tho chair. The licenses for the Club Hotel, Woodville, and Dudley Arms, Mangatainoka, were only granted for three months, to allow of certain renovations insisted on by the Health Department being effected. Several other licenses were .granted conditionally on tho ■improvement's required by the Health Department being carried out. All the other licenses were granted. The reports regarding the conduct of the houses were all favourable, with hardly any exception. The wholesale license granted to the Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association was brought into question, and the Chairman ruled that it con Id not be dealt with excepting on specific grounds. The question of conditional licenses was also raised. In the chairman's opinion these conld not be given to outside licensees; but he said he would look into the matten This point will affect the Waipukuraiu race meeting, the course being in the Fahiatua district and the neighbouring hotels in tho "Wainawa electorate. -
