COMMITTEE TO MEDIATE. (By Telegraph — Press Association.J REEFTON, Last Night. A largo meeting held last night at the Council Chambers set up a committee to enquire into and if possible mediate in the dispute. The speakers strongly objected to Jinking the Waihi and Reefton strikes. The committee wired to the Minister of Labour, stating that the meeting had expressed strong feeling at the action of the Labour Department in its deky in stating its intention or otherwise of proceeding mind urging that tho Arbitration Court, sit at once. It is understood that opposition may be shown to the granting of protection on public grounds, but the Companys will >ask for protection on every property, owing to the labour troubles. !
