WAIHI STRIKE
QUESTION OF A SETTLEMENT. (By Telegraph-—Press Association,) WELLINGTON, Last Night. In regard to the proposed Conference to consider the Waihi Strike, Mr Pryor, Secretary of the Gold Mineowners' Association, states that hewrote to the Federation, stating that the 1 ; mine-owners were prepared to meet the men's representatives, but unless a settlement of the differences betwceni the two unions at Waihi could be iarranged in the meantime, a conference must, necessarily : prove abortive, since' the imiine-owners were not prepared "to'interfere in a dispute l>et\veen: those' unions: Mr Semple. had i>romisedj;«h behalf of the Federa-V t-ion. that a .reply would' be sent by last evening, but Mr Pryor has not | vet received -a reply.
