THE MISSING DREDGE.

LIFE-BUOY WASHED ASHORE. (By Telegraph — Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Last Night, A discovery bus been made on the West Coast which may "throw some light on the disappearance, of the Sydney Harbour. Trust's' suction dredge Manchester, which left Wellington! for Sydney on April' 6th, and which has not been heard of since. On Wednesday afternoon, while walking on the beach' at Pullock, between. Manakau and Waikato heads, Mr Moikle discovered a life-buoy bearing the words "A. D. Manchester, Lyttelton." The life-buoy did not appear to have been in> the water long, and the paint on it was comparatively fresh. There were no further signs of any wreckage .m the vicinity. The mere fact of the'life-buoy having heen found om the West Coast does not necessarily imply that the Manchester was at any time in the near vicinity, as there appears to be a very/curious current which brings portions of. wreckage from thousands of miles awiay. In this connection, it is interesting to note that some' time back a life-buoy was found bearing . indistinct lettering, which' Ted to the belief that it had belonged to the •ill-fated Waiatah, which. is supposed to jhave been lost off the East Coast of Africa. .
