GENERAL BADEN-POWELL
RECEPTION IN WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night, General Sir R. S. S. -Badcm-PoweH arrived by the Auckland train' tenday, and 'was met at the .railway station by *he scout-masters cif the * Wellington ■Distinct, and a large number of boy iscouts.
The General was given a civic reception at the Town ELall.. The Mayor (Mr D. McLaren) -welcomed General Baden-Powell .to Wellington, arid spoke appreciatively of the Boy Scout movement.
The General spoke of the widespread a.nd growing interest" of tie scout movement. He was glad to see the progress it had made in New Zealand, especially as there was here a definite form of good trai'ning. That training was the outcome of good citizenship, because every .good citizen (should have the desire to defend his liome.
His Excellency the Governor presided at a 'lecture given in the Town Hall in the evening, which was well attended. Lord Islington expressed hie .high appreciation of the Boy Scout organ-, isation, saying that it .tended towards good airvd patriotic manhood.
