THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. "THE POW.ErToF LOVE." The programme which is to be presented at the- Foresters' Hall to-night contains a number of excellent pictures!, the chief one being another of•the special series of big dramas which tlie ■firm are securing for their patrons, viz., "The Pciwer of Love." This drama is. 3000 feet in length, and produced by the ,i>'ordisk Company, whose picture, "The Victim of the Mormonis" was shown at the Foresters' Hall recently. "The Power of Love" is described as the famous ladies' play, but not only is it this, but is a picture 1 thai is sure to suit all tastes. The .story is a powerful one, iand is produced in an interesting manner. City life, with all its brilliancy and temptations, is graphically .sliow.ii, while some of the ■scenes, especially that at the big railway disaster, are triumphs of the .producers' aft. "The Spartan Mother" deals 'with an incident of the American civil war.,' The mother loses all 'her son* except one in the fight. The remaining one gets the coward's funk and runs away home. The ■Spartan mother .clears him out again at the point of the revolver, and he leads his coi-ps into victory. "Billy's Stratagem" is .a story of the early days on the ''frontier by tihe'A.B. Co., and contains a ttariffing explosion scene •when Indians explode a. keg of gunpowder by .mistake. Among the other pictures are "The Oxford.\and Cambridge ißoat Race," "The Grand National Steeplechase," "The „Cliampion Lady Swimmers," "The Frontier ■Girl's Courage'' (a fine Selig production), "A Question of Seconds" (a sensational Edision drama), and "The Fatal Chocolate" (a screaming comedy). •The children's matinee will take place f on< Saturday afternoon, at 2.30 o'clock. ; On Monday afternoon next, Messrs ■Thompson and Payne will slhow a magnificent series of New Zealand lake and mountain .scenery, including beautiful Lake Wdkaremoana in all its grandeur. This eplendid picture' was token, recently by Mr H. Thompson, j and gives a capital id>?a of the lovely scenery of the' Lakes distinct of the I .North.'
