AN EDUCATIONAL PROTEST.
The Education Boards of New Zealand, which failed to secure representation at the conference of local bodies to be held in Wellington to-day, took time by itiie forelock, and held a conference on their own account. They had no difficulty in arriving at the conclusion that a Bffili which proposed to remove the administration of education from the parents and School Cbnumittees, aind .to hand it over to the Parlia.mentairy electors;, and which at the same time proposed placing the burden of taxation tor the upkeep of schools upon the ratepayers, was iniquitous, and. unjust. That this concllusion .will 'be confirmed by the geneiral' conference, Which meets to-day, goes without saying. As a matter of fact, the whole Local Government Bill is doomed. But that portion of the measure .regarding education was dead before it was incubated.
