COMPETITION KEE>J. '(Received May 6, 9.40 a m.) LONDON, May 5. The wool sales closed with a large attendance, and competition was keen. Coarse crossbreds were very keen at average January/rates. Fine medium crossbreds 5 to 10 per cent, advance. All'merinos closed strong at the per cent dearer. Lambs —Good supply ; merinos" advanced 5 per cent, crossbreds at January best level rates. There were catalogued 20').357 (?) bales, of which number 141,000 were sold for the Home market ; for the Continent, 100,000; United States, 12,000; held over, 19,250 bales.
