KICKED DOWN STAIRS.
j The love of.- the new Prime Minister : for til© Liberal giante of the pa«t—SSr Japes Carroll,. Mr J. A. Millar, Mr it. McKenzie,'and Mr* D. . ißuddo—may hsj-ve been diplomatically'dissembled, but the country, as well-.as the ex-MinLyters, has a right to know why these gentlemen iiave been .kicked down the .political stairs. The people have been waiting anxiously for au explanation from/ the Bon. T. Mackenzie of the reason which prompted h:in in unceremoniously jettisoning those Ministers who have been faithful to the Literal cause.- It can hardly be that the Ministers, in a spirit of i=eJf-abnegation, declined to retain ■office. If they did, they were guilty "of disloyalty to tlie cause. If they did not, they have a right • to 'know ■why tliey were left out of the Cabinet. What Justification had Mr Mackenzie 'for retiring Ministers in whom tljo, country, a few weeks previously, expressed confidence? Will the Prime Minister please explain ?
