WORKERS' DWELLINGS.
The very point that was raised in this paper.some weeks ago, viz., that "workers would not. consent to be dumped together in a communistic settlement, to be pointed at as ,"the workers' .hom-eB," has cropped up at the Tfradefi Council Conference in Wellington '.T4ie Conference has, decided to an amendment of the Act, to allow workers to build where they desire. This would, of course, mean an increase in the cost of dwellings, and, if it" were given effect to, would practically kill the workers' home® Scheme. In any case, the advances to workers proposals, if surrounded ■with proper safeguards, are nvuch more wholesome and attractive than the -scheme to provide workers' dwelling^.
