A FIGHTING PLATFORM.
The fighting platform tff the United Labour Party (united in name if not in reality), is published in this issue. It makes interesting reading, as it •shows- clearly what are the aspirations of those engaged in tlieVfight for labour supremacy. With some of the jpliauks of the 'platform, strangely enough, we are in complete accord. iFor in sitiaii.ee, wo have ourselves advo-. cated full political rights' t-o public f (servants,• the referendum on' certain questions, proiporinional. . r.epresfenta'ftiion, a.n lElec-five Executive, and the extension of educational facilities. j With other-planks, however, we have .not the .slightest- sympathy. A barefeieed attempt is to be made to sad-j die the country district® with the cost of miming the machinery of State, and to deprive them of their political rigihtS' a,nd privileges. These, and oth- ] er extreme proposals-, will be fought by the people of the country to the •bitter end.
