ORDINARY MEETING
The ordinary meeting of tlie Masterton Borougih Council vras held in the Council Chambers last evening, there being present,— Crs. J. Elliott, H. : J:"Q'Leary, T. G. Hoar, J. Candy, W. Pragnell, J. C. Ewington, J. P. Prentice, and A. Donald. In tlie absence of His Woreliip tlie i Mayor, (Mir J. M. Ooradine), Cr ElI liott was voted to tlie chair. A letter ivas received from the Municipal, Association of New Zealand in ' reference to tlie Municipal ' Conference to be held this year.— Jt wa.s decided to hold the matter over till next meeting. The reports of tho Borough Engineer, Manager of the Bor-Ougih Abattoirs, .Custodian "of the' Library, and Poundkeeper, were read and adopted. ' ■ - ■ Referring to tlie Borough Engin- 1 eer's report, Cr Elliott said-that, the report was most satisfiaeory, and he thought it- should be very to the Council to know that the sew- j age farm was working so well, as so i much "cold water" was thrown on the J scheme when it was first' introduced. In' reference to the Librarian's re-port,-,.0r Prentice stated that, a number of subscribers to the Library' had complained that they were not 'informed that the Library would' be closed for Raster, and he thought tha j t'hey might be advised through the Press. ' Or Elliott' said that the subscribers ought to know that the Library was always closed at Easter, and he i thought that the Librarian was as much entitled to a (holiday as anyone else. ; " - " -..Vj .
