Details of th ? Balia Balla disaster telephoned to Roe-bourne show that when she was struck by the cyclone the vessel Crown of England ha:l two anchors down and her lifeboats in readiness. One cable snapped, and tho vessel swung sideways, and drifted on to the rocks at Depuch Island. Seas were sweeping over her, and the crew took refuge in the /.igging. At daybreak the captain ordered the crew to cry <>nc! gain ftio shore, as the vessel was breaking up. The men too): "tothe surf. Eight were drowned. All the bodies have been recovered. 'flit- captain of the barque Concotdin, seeing that his vessel's anchors wfcre unable to hold her, steered on td a sandy beach. Tho vessel is practically ut\ dam aged.

■The Postal Department is working strenuously to restore telegraphic communication north of Roebourne.

Port Hedland, where it is possible the steamer Koombana is sheltering, was spoken for a moment, but the line immediately failed again. A rumour has been, circulated that the steamer is ashore on the NinttvMile Beach.
