OBlundell, of Longbush, on behalf of the Longbush Telephone Committee, asking if the Chamber of Commerce was prepared to assist in the formation c'f a telephone-service between Mastenbon and Longlbush, stating that the cost was estimated at £lls. with an annual rental of £7. Mr C. E. Dianiell moved, and Mr J. B. Keith seconded, that tflie- President and Mr G. C. Summerell be appointed a committee to meet the Longbush committee, arid further go into the matter, and report at • the next meeting of the Chamber. A letter was read from, the London Decimal Association,'pointing out thei advantage of the decimal system in connection with weights and measur-i es, and asking for the assistance of the Chamber in furthering the inter r ests of the Association. It was decided to receive the letter, and Hold it over for future consideration. A letter was received from Mr P. C. -Tadman, an English licensed passage broker, drawing the Chamber's attention to the ease with which it was possible to supply skilled, work people for the colonies. The only difficulty in the way of sending workers from England to the colonies was the matter of financing their passages, and if this were done by those requiring laibour in New Zealand, a. plentiful supply of workers could be arranged, the passage money to be afterwards deducted by the employer in small weekly amounts. It was decided that the communication' be received. . "
