RELIABILITY TRIAL RESULT.
Cadillac cars again showed their consistency in the recent trial, mnn- j ing four gold 1 medals and gaining 2nd and 3rd .prizes. Mr H. Piper, with his] 1910 Cadillac, only decided to enter the trial at the last moment, and only arrived from Akaroa the -evening previous to the trial, and started on the trial without any preparation. Result, second prize gold medal, and 2<H running miles to the gallon. Mr F. Hubbard, after running, his car over 12,000 miles, gained third prize and gold medal, petrol consumption M running miles to the gallon. Captain McLean, the veteran, driving the same car as in the two previous trials, and which has rum over 50,000 miles, gained 1000 marks and gold medal, petrol consumption 24£ running miles to the gallon. Mr -A. W. Lane's Cadillac car was the same r car that won the trade prize and j gold medal on last year's trials to Dunedin and return. This car also won gold medal and 1000 marks, petrol consumption 22 running miles per gallon. Mr Lane covered the entire distance to H&nmer.via, East Oxford and return via Cheviot, a distance of 303 miles, in 12 hours 18 .minutes. Mr J. N. Boag, with hia 1912 selfstarting Cadillac, which he had only recently taken delivery of, made an engine non-stop run, only losing five marks for stopping his- car when changing gear. Petrol consumption 21 running miles. All the above cars were with fully touring equipmenthoods, wind-shields, and lamps, and not stripped down for the contest. :f
