CARTERTaN. At St. Mark's Church, Carterton, on Friday afternoon, Bishop Sprott, assisted by the Rev. Williams, Maori Missioner, held a confirmation service for the members of the Clareville 'Native College. Miss L. Feist, teacher at Carrington School, met with a painful accident on Friday morning. She was riding to the school to commence the day's duties, when her horse shied at some object on the side of the road, and she was thrown, her shoulder being badly dislocated, and other injuries suffered. Das. Johnston and Gunn reduced the dislocation and placed the sufferer in a fair way to .recovery. The ground committee of the Wairarapa and East Coast P. and A. Society meet on the Showgrounds on Monday next, to peruse plans of roof for sheep perns, and to arrange for calling for tenders for same. The programme committee'Trillmeet in the afternoon to arrange for the ploughing match. The settlers of Longjbush have made a move in the matter of getting telephone communication with Carterton.
