SHOCKING ACCIDENT

(By Telegraph — Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Last Night. An accident occurred at the pumice works at Ohinewai, causing shocking injuries to the manager. Mr Thomas Smith. He was pulling a truck of coal to the works with the aid of a horse, when he tripped and fell. The Truck, which was heavily laden, passed over him, almost severing one leg, mangling the other, and crushing the arm. The injured man had his right log amputated above the knee, his left leg half way between the knee and the ankle, and his left arm between the wrist and elbow. His condition is critical.
