RECIPROCAL VISITS.
Timaru Ims set an example which might well bo followed by Masterton. It has invited the -miyor, Councillors and citizens of Christchurch to visit it on Monday nest to view for themselves its potentialities. Masterton might with advantage invite the 3layor, Councillors, Chamber of Commerce and citizens of Wellington to visit this part on a given date and enjoy a picnic, say, in the public park or the SbUvay showgrounds. The effect of such a visit would bo; that the public men of the city would be impressed with the resources of the district and with the necessity for improving the railway facilities between the Wairarapa and the seaboard. At the present time Wellington is stagnant because it does not appreciate the importance of quick transit between the country and the city.
