THE MISSING HIMITANGI
ANXIETY INCREASES.
(By Tdegravh — Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, Last Night
Anxiety regarding the Himitangi, which should have returned from the Chathams in the middle of last month, increases, but it is still felt by experienced ship-masters that if she has* gone ashore, her crew are quite safe. The s.s. Gertie, which has left to search for the Himitangi, was due at Waitangi last Saturday, and the Amokura should reach there to-night, or early to-morrow. If the Hamitangi's crew are safe,, they should.reach Wellington by the Gertie to-morrow or Wednesday. The "Prime Minister, in accordance with a request made to him - yesterday by the Chatham Island Fishing Company, has communicated with the naval authorities, suggesting that H.'M.S. Pioneer, which is now at Lyttelton, should also be sent to search for the overdue vessel, but, so far, he has not heard whether she can be spared for that purpose.
