VETERINARY INSTRUCTION.
There are three or four months in the year when the stress and strain that has been upon dairy farmers is relaxed. During the remainder of the year the. farmer who depends upon cows for a living, is up before daylight and to bed by dark, with scarce time to partake of his meals in comfort. The suggestion that dairy (farmers should be given instruction in veterinary science can only be given effect to in the winter months, and even then the hours must be so regulated that the necessary farm work which is to be carried out in the off season should not be too much interfered with. The usefulness of such instruction no one will call in question. Tho point is how best to arrange classes. Day and night instruction might be arranged for in. some central place, and a small fee be charged to pupils to partly cover expenses, and also to place a value on the instructions given. Anyone ■who knows the utter helplessness of manv small farmers and <>t farm hands under the ailments and accidents that stock are subject to, will see tho wisdom of making an earnest effort to dispel this ignorance.
